Another Tech Question
« on: January 19, 2007, 06:06:16 PM » |

I had to unplug my router, modem and PC due to a lost internet connection. When I powered everything back up I had an internet connection. But, the SSID for the router defaulted back the factory name.
Is this normal and something I will have to do every time my power down my router.

That doesn't seem normal. I've turned my router off accidentally before and it saved the settings when I turned it back on again.
There's usually some sort of reset button, which will put everything back to the default settings, but usually that button is hard to get to by design.(often need a paperclip or something)

It should keep the settings.
Did you try it again?
It might have been a one off or you pressed the reset button dyst mentioned.
The reset button on mine is a little black button right next to the input jack, so depending on your router it's possible.
