Describe your dream house
« on: January 24, 2007, 07:15:08 PM » |

What are some of the elements that you envision in your dream house?
Suppose you were suddenly given a massive amount of $$ that had to go toward a new house, what would be some of the things that would go on the checklist when shopping for or designing your dream house?
Here's some of the first things that first came to mind for me: 1. no neighbors in sight 2. lots of fenced-off space for the pooch to run around and chase rabbits/squirrels 3. killer home theater 4. backyard practice green/short game area 5. nice private office/fortress of solitude 6. workshop to build and test clubs w/ launch monitor 7. good view of either the ocean or mountains

Inside the house, I'd like: - ceilings high enough that I can swing a driver without "impact"
- well-lit, fully-wired workshop
- the fortress of solitude, with windows for air/view
- what the hell, give me a Bat-pole to slide down from there to the kitchen
- an exercise room that doesn't double as the guest bedroom
- big kitchen, lots of counter space, cabinet storage, and top-notch appliances
- no brass!
- a deep garage, so that cars can be put in and I don't have to sidle between their bumpers and the wall
- pre-wired for built-in speakers

If I had unlimited funds I'd build an old school medieval castle, with moats and drawbridges and stuff.

1. no neighbors in sight (that sucks, get's old) 2. lots of fenced-off space for the pooch to run around and chase rabbits/squirrels(well, I ain't never had a dog, so I can't speak to that) 3. killer home theater (yeah) 4. backyard practice green/short game area (yeah, but you'ld still spend time at the course) 5. nice private office/fortress of solitude (bingo) 6. workshop to build and test clubs w/ launch monitor (that's cool) 7. good view of either the ocean or mountains (meh)
I have had many(too many) living arrangements. My only advise is, be careful what you wish for, and the grass isn't greener.........

1. no neighbors in sight I like that idea. I'd add a few arrow slits and and a few machicolations for those pesky survey people.2. lots of fenced-off space for the pooch to run around and chase rabbits/squirrels No dog but could be quite usefull for guests kids or inlaws3. killer home theater Don't watch much tv or movies.. Could I substitute a dungeon?4. backyard practice green/short game area YES! Smart man5. nice private office/fortress of solitude Ooh... with a big oak door with a little peephole like an old speakeasy?6. workshop to build and test clubs w/ launch monitor Absolute necessity. Would sure beat my work area under the stairs. I feel like Harry Potter the clubmaker.7. good view of either the ocean or mountains Got the ocean view. Like to see more ocean and less other people though. See Machicolations and Dungeon above.INTERIOR * ceilings high enough that I can swing a driver without "impact" I'd actually incorporate that into the clubmaking workshop. Preferably on an upper floor where I could open some french doors and launch a few into the wild.* well-lit, fully-wired workshop But one adjacent to but not part of the clubmaking workshop.* the fortress of solitude, with windows for air/view * what the hell, give me a Bat-pole to slide down from there to the kitchen Now THIS is pure unbridled genius. Maybe another that drops to the dungeon for a quick getaway in case if invasion by wife unit!* an exercise room that doesn't double as the guest bedroom Yup, and a personal trainer. We'll call her Inga.... * big kitchen, lots of counter space, cabinet storage, and top-notch appliances center cooking island, rimless sinks, lots of pin spots for good lighting in selected areas, and all top notch knives... oooh... kniiiiives.....* no brass! keep the brass. Inga can do some cleaning when I'm not in the gym.* a deep garage, so that cars can be put in and I don't have to sidle between their bumpers and the wall and a floor that slopes slightly to the center with a drain!!!! And maybe a pit in the 3rd bay?* pre-wired for built-in speakers cat 5 and cable all rooms also.Ok where do I sign up?

I'm quite content with where I am right now. But I wouldn't mind visiting my cousin (I mean my "great uncle") sometime.

away from everyone. huge property (big enough for practice area, driving range, and a couple of holes) . 2 story house at most (excluding basement) huge basement finished out with practice area (musician), pool table, gym/weights, etc. home theater with nice screen/sound and insulated to withstand at least 10,000W of lowend (several 2500 W subs) ultra modern and up-to-date kitchen in b/w or brushed stainless steel. rest of the house finished and furneshed far more traditionally. deep walk in closets, and tons of in wall shelving.

Well, broadband would be nice, but we already have 2 PC's.
