Echo what spaceage said plus....it can be good for you. The Japanese perennially have the longest life span in the world. A lot of that is attributed to their traditional fish and rice based diet. But for me, mainly cuz it tastes good.

I don't understand why people are shocked. I can easily see killing someone over a really good Maryland shore crab cake.
Absolutely.

But for me, mainly cuz it tastes good. But that's the question: Why do you think it tastes good? What is it that you like about it? Oh, and I like fish - a lot! I like fishing, too. But I haven't found other types of seafood tasty very often. I've had shrimp a few times. Liked it once, didn't like it the other times.

If it's prepared properly, then many types of seafood can be melt-in-your-mouth buttery, and sometimes has a bit of sweetness that works well with a spicy or salty sauce/seasoning. (Of course it's easy to prepare seafood badly, and then it's like eating bicycle tires. And, there's always the creepy 'I'm eating an entire animal, organs and all' feeling with smaller crustaceans.)

I usually get bicycle tires.

For the exact same reason that Torpedo is getting sick of minestrone soup. There are only so many ways that you can cook beef, chicken, and pork before it all starts to taste the same. Seafood is far less accessible to most people than meats derived from land-dwelling animals, so seafood is like a luxury item when people have an opportunity to consume it.

I have no idea where you've eaten seafood but.....it really does depend on how it's prepared. For instance, IMO Red Lobster is not "seafood". I think worst_golfer summed it up well as far as taste goes. And for me, chin hit the nail on the head. I just don't have good seafood enough and when I do I absolutely love it.

Considering where you live, I suspect you have some great, fresh, freshwater fish available to you, so it's no surprise that you like it. Conversely, you probably have a lot of previously frozen and subpar seafood to choose from. The difference between the fresh fish you catch, and frozen fish sticks, is pretty much the difference between frozen and fresh seafood.

Fresh Walleye is the best fish there is. We catch them all the time at the place where "the ducks walk on the fish". Check it out.

Or yellow perch caught through the ice! Nat, you have to try some good seafood and expand your horizons. Sometimes, you have to let the taste grow on you.

Most of us landlocked folks have never had good seafood unless we've traveled to the coast(s). We have some pretty good seafood restaurants in Utah who fly the stuff in fresh daily, and they're decent, but still nothing like you can find on the coast. If frozen is all you've ever tried, I can certainly see why there would be a distaste for the stuff.

Good point. I live near enough to the coast that good local restaurants can get fresh fish.
