What was at stake was who would eat first. So coveted are G&M's crab cakes that not only do lines of hungry devotees stretch out the door, but the delicacies can be ordered online and shipped overnight anywhere in the country. Baltimore magazine named them the best in the region in 2004 and 2005, according to the restaurant's Web site.

Assistant State's Attorney Michael Dunty maintains that Rites, 39, of Violetville, responded before Rantin, 31, a Reisterstown barber and home rehabber, when the "who's next?" call went out at lunchtime March 28.

Asserting that Rites was not next, Rantin began arguing, and the confrontation went from words to shoving to the stabbing, the prosecutor said.

Rites had his left wrist slashed and left lung punctured.

Ok, here is a simple recipe that people love and you won't have to stab anyone:

Take a pound of crabmeat, jumbo lump preferred.
Mix in a half cup of tricolor peppers (or just green if you want to skimp)
1/4 cup of sweet onions
1/4 cup of mayo
2 medium eggs
3/4 cup of breadcrumbs, preferably seafood breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon old bay seasoning
A couple pinches of dry mustard
A few splashes of Worcestershire

Mix well and form into hockey puck sized cakes (maybe a little smaller in diameter, yet thicker). Now don't fry them, frying makes them tough on the outside. Bake them at 375* for maybe 12-15 minutes, turn about 2/3 of the way through and then toss a small pat of butter on top if you want. I'm not 100% on the cooking time, but you want them to firm up until they feel like a medium well steak. They shouldn't dent easily. Serve with a nice Cajun mustard remoulade. Enjoy.

Those sound great. I haven't had good crab cakes in a while. May have to try that out.

dystopia, you know and I both know that blue crab is overrated compared to dungeness, and it's certainly not worth stabbing someone over. Grin

No way!  I'm a blue crab guy even though I live in dungeness country now.  I had a summer internship in DC after my junior year in college and lived in Maryland.  I refer to it as my Chesapeake Summer of Crab(s)... Devil Grin

(Not that I'm trying to start a "cast vs. forged"-like crab flame war or anything)

Huh?  Sorry.  I thought you meant that my post was overboard, when you could also have meant the stabbing was overboard.  Or even better, made it intentionally ambiguous which is damn funny.  Either way, I removed my post.

I'm kind of half-paying attention to posting.  I'm trying to figure out my fantasy hockey trades in another tab as well as...
