Sneakers (Keds and PF Flyers). Tennis shoes were what the rich kids wore. But, I am old. Okay, I've never heard it differentiated like that. More expensive brand names??

Trainers, I'm not as yankified as Beattie yet. There's still hope for me. These are still boots even though it embarrasses my son when I say it. Wow. Just had a flashback. What was that comic with the kid who had the magic boots? It's been ages.

Sport Billy? That's it (sorta)!!! Billy's Boots. HTF did you know that? There was a cartoon I vaguely remember from my childhood called Sport Billy. I don't really remember the details but it had something to do with this kid who had ties to Mt. Olympus and had to go around saving sports from some evil queen or something to that effect. Anyway, it seems like he had magic boots and a bag full of magic sporting gear. Now that I have googled both it seems that it was just a happy coincidence that they were both named Billy and played sports. So in answer to your question, I did not know.
