http://en.wikipedia.org/w.../Schmidt_Sting_Pain_Index

I got stung on my ring finger by a Paper Wasp a couple weekends ago while pulling my kayak out of the water. It felt like someone was trying to cut my finger off with a razor blade. My hand swelled up like a balloon over the next couple days. Glad I had taken my wedding ring off. Sting Pain Index of 3.0.

Paper wasp: Caustic & burning. Distinctly bitter aftertaste. Like spilling a beaker of Hydrochloric acid on a paper cut.

Cool, the IPA of bee stings.

.........After securing the Kayak, and slamming a couple of beers; steg returns to water to let the other wasps know that stinging him wasn't cool.

The Snake River in SW Idaho.

We put in and take out right by the dam and start by paddling upstream (to the left of the photo. We flatwater kayak using sea kayaks.

The good thing about getting old, is that you can hit the ball out of sight.
