I need to redo the grout in our kitchen, anyone have any experience with one of these rotary grout removal deals? Feeback? No. But it has to beat my method of scratching it out with the bloody nubs of what used to be my fingers. I'd rather watch Bridges of Madison County than mess about with grout.

I'd rather watch Bridges of Madison County than mess about with grout. I feel very similar. Unfortunately I live with a cold and heartless woman who has no sympathy for my plight.

this is the method i used. any other way is a ball busting job, depending on the type of grout and the tile spacing. try some of the tile forums, yes there is tile forums.

Traditional treatment is high doses of NSAIDS or indomethacin to kill the pain, anti-inflammatories, and drugs, such as allopurinol, that inhibit formation of uric acid. Allopurinol, however, has some serious side effects, such as skin eruptions, liver toxicity, inflammation of the blood vessels, and possible weakening of kidney function by forcing the kidneys to work too hard to excrete the uric acid. If you have kidney problems and use this drug, be sure to be carefully monitored. Another drug that is used is colchicine, but it, too, has serious side effects, including numbness in the hands and feet, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, weakness, hair loss, and abnormal bleeding or bruising. Cortisone is used for acute attacks, but should not be used for extended periods.
A new gout drug, febuxostat, which is awaiting FDA ap.....oh wait. You said grout, not gout didn't you. nevermind.

To answer you question the Dremel should do the job nicely. Just be careful because if it get away from you grout removal will turn into tile replacement. (that is assuming you are only replacing the grout and not the tile. If you were replacing the tile I would not worry about the grout as a good flat shovel will do the job.)

I hate you so very, very much. You need to relax. Go have a nice glass of red wine, perhaps a liverwurst sandwich and put your feet up.
