Diverticulitis
« on: June 05, 2007, 06:43:53 PM »

most of you are too young for this fascinating experience. i unfortunately am not. i am now learning what all that fiber is used for.  Cry

not a pleasant time. eat your fruits, veggies, and whole grains.

Signs and symptoms

Diverticulitis symptoms can feel like appendicitis, except you'll generally have pain in the lower left side of your abdomen, instead of the lower right side. The pain is usually severe and comes on suddenly, but sometimes you may have mild pain that becomes worse over several days and fluctuates in intensity. You may also have abdominal tenderness, fever, nausea, and constipation or diarrhea.

My boss had that last year.  Three surgeries and then he got hooked on the pain killers.  Missed most of the year.

I hope things go better for you.

Having scanned patients for years who suffer from this, I wish you the best, and hope your case is mild, and can be controlled through diet, and med.s.  Best of luck.

thanx for all the kind words.  Smiley

this has gone on for quite some time un-diagnosed. appeared i was having bouts of food poisioning, flu, and other digestive ailments. so all in all, my health should actually improve now that we know what has been going on.
i am currently on a 10 day course of 2000mg of antibiotics a day to clear up the infection. can you say horse pills. Eek you could swallow a titliest easier. Grin

I've had sporadic bouts of this for most of my life. Add to that Irritable bowel syndrome, and occasional acid reflux. Sometimes it's a real pain in the ass, pun not intended. Nuts are usually my downfall. I love cashews and peanuts, and I have a rough time with moderation.

Hopefully, I've seen the light, and changed my eating habits. More fruits and vegetables, less red meat, and all other things in moderation.
