But you can really discount the rest of the day/evening, because I'm a worthless pile of *feces* when I get home.
I'm sorry, are you talking about just the golf days in particular?

Alright, the serious:

Golf: I've been to the range maybe three times this calendar year, at about $7 per bucket.  Takes 1.25 hours, all told.  I've played perhaps a half-dozen nine-holers at about $28-$34 per outing.  That eats up about three hours, driving included.

Motorcycling: I ride the bike instead of driving the car whenever I can and feel like it.  Heavy traffic where I'm going, thunderstorms pending ... car.  Add bits to customize the ride, some cheap and some spendy.  And the occasional half-day outing ($10-$15 gas; 3-4 hours) or less frequent long weekend tour ($50-$75 gas, $30-$45 lodging, $20-40 food/bev; 36-72 hours).

(Very) Amateur carpentry: this is more handyman stuff, making little furniture, a playhouse, benches, shelf unit, and assorted whatnot.  Not show quality by any means, but well-built, durable and not too displeasing to the eye.  Expenses vary depending on the item and how fancy I'm getting with it (hardwood v. veneered laminate v. painted plywood or pine, for example).

And of course, there's my nose hair collecting.  'Nuff said there.

What are these things called "hobbies"?

Regional.

The equivalent of what you call "Leather Night".
Which raises a dilemma: I'm headed into town tonight for European Bike Night at a local pub.  But I'm not riding my bike into town.  I planned instead to drive the ol' Subaru.  Is it weird that I'll be changing into full leathers for the outing?

Not weird at all.  In fact, that's pretty much the mental image I already had.  If you've given the moustache enough time to come in.........You're the shizzle..

I haven't played golf since February. Sad  My scores had hit a wall, and the costs were really adding up (greenfees, range, clubmaking).  Plus, weekend rounds were taking so long, I felt like I was losing half my weekend.

And when I wasn't golfing, I was spending time doing golf drills, stretching, and weight exercises at home, so it was probably my only hobby before.

I pretty much saved up the money I would have spent on golf to buy a new cellphone and tinker around with that.  I have to admit I was in better shape before. Embarrassed

Yep, one too many is a dangerous thing when shopping on ebay or posting to golf intenet sites.  I've been there the next morning where you get up, check ebay, and go "did I really bid that much on that?"

Back to the main topic.  Golf is it for me, although the better half organizes projects to help the handicapped (golf tournament, bowling leagues) so I spend a fair amount of time with our handicapped daughter, which I wouldn't trade for another hobby.

It is nothing but golf, golf, golf at our house.

There was a time where Russell would piss me off over the crap tv shows he would insist on watching, and I would grab a glass of red wine (maybe a few Grin) log-on  and go straight to "EBay"!!!!

My EBay hobby is just about gone, as I have brought too much crap after too much red wine!!!! Embarrassed Embarrassed
I will admit to going to the computer the next day, with my head hung in shame, hoping & wishing that somebody will have outbid me!!! Embarrassed Embarrassed........ Grin

Being a full time "Baby Wrangler" right now makes it a little tough to find time to hit the course.

I don't practice much and might hit the range once a month at best to keep the swing going.

So costs for golf are reasonably minimal, annual fees for full membership at my club cost me around $800.

Golf - 9 holes once a month, maybe twice.  So usually less than 2 hours/month.  $10 for 9, and $3 for an additional 9 (if we ever make it that far. Sad)

Biking - 1/2 hour to hour at a time.  No schedule, just whenever it'll fit into a time slot, so not very often.  $0

Reading - Usually 1 hour/day (provided it isn't too chilly*), outside, during summer months while Garrett is napping.  Sometimes, Chelsea is with me so I'm not completely useless during this time. Wink During the winter, whenever I have free time that I don't want to pick up a crochet project.

Crocheting - winter through early spring, doesn't interfere with Minnesnowta golf season.  $ - ?, depends on the projects, materials, and patterns.  Generally, $50+ total.  Do a lot of sibling/grandma-sitting while crocheting, provided that the project isn't for someone in the household.

Computer - time varies, cost varies (usually very minimal).  Throw it in between other hobbies.  Recently, maybe twice a week with an hour or so per time.

I would say those are my "main" hobbies.  There are others that I would like to try, but I don't have the time or money.

*definition of chilly - any day under 80º subsequent to 90º Wink
