rumsfeld steps down

"Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, architect of an unpopular war in Iraq, is stepping down as Secretary of Defense, President Bush announced today."

Bush said he is nominating Robert Gates, former head of the CIA, to replace Rumsfeld.

well, i dont have the transcript or the verbatim,   but something like "i worked harder on the campaign trail for these elections than he did"

Heh, on my drive to work this morning, I only heard on the radio that Rumsfeld was stepping down, but not that Gates was going to replace him.

So in my mind, I thought that this conspiracy theory was actually unfolding:

(where essentially Bush appoints Lieberman to Sec. of Defense, then Gov. Jodi Rell (R-CT) appoints a new Senator to replace Lieberman)

Then 10 minutes later, I heard about Robert Gates and had to laugh at myself. Tinfoil Grin
