Best and Worst eBay Purchases?
« on: July 14, 2007, 07:24:38 PM » |

The Hobbies thread and talking about buying on ebay drunk made me think of some of the weird eBay purchases I've made over the years. What was the best eBay purchase you've ever made (great deal, satisfaction, etc.), and what was the worst (regrettable, got caught up in bidding, hated upon receiving, etc.)? My best purchase was easily a set of Mizuno MX-23s. I got a great deal on them, played them for a year, then sold them on consignment at Play It Again Sports for what I paid for them. Never should have sold them, though. Worst purchase is tough. Maybe a blue Swing Speed Radar device when the the Red one was just about to come out. Probably a jeweler's loupe, which I've never used, but thought would be fun to buy after looking at engagement rings with the fiancée. Whatcha got?

Best: Ogio Straight Jacket travel bag, $50 brand new. Guy turned out to be in Portland, delivered it to my office.
Worst: black Nike "sweater". Had bought from the seller before, the pics were dark, I thought it was a crewneck sweater. Bid a little more, too, because the merino wool crewnecks were scarce and going for >$100 retail. Turned out to be one of those merino wool polo shirts that 50-year-old business men wear with dress slacks. (Sorry to those dudes here who have such shirts. But you're lame.)

Best: Creative Labs Zen Microphoto 8gb New in Box for $75 shipped (was listed really in the wrong place with a strange typo in the listing)
Runner Up: MacGregor Bobby Grace M2 putter mint condition $45 shipped. (Winter, poorly listed, no photo, etc.)
I also love my merino wool polo shirt. It looks particularly good with dress slacks
Worst: Not a lot of bad purchases on Ebay, but I've gone out on a limb for some cheap electronics in the past and gotten exactly what I paid for.

Yes, it was me who mentioned biddying on ebay, while having too much to drink!!!! Best, battery operated golf buggy, $100.00. Worst, well most of them can be blamed on the red wine, most probably clothes, that look like crap when you get them.

I also love my merino wool polo shirt. It looks particularly good with dress slacks I suppose you accessorize it with an $8 cup of burnt Starbucks coffee. Elitist. I forgot another contender for best: Canon 28-105 USM-II EF lens. Dirt cheap, solid as a rock, takes clear pics, has worked as my primary-use lens for three years now.

Best: My Hogan CFT's 3-PW 100 dinero, lister said that "LA" was stamped on them but that you wouldn't notice it (and I don't), I think that turned people away.
Worst: Was my first purchase. I think it was listed as "Black Sabbath DVD one penny" BOOM! I bought it. And then read the small print, it was like 50 dollars shipping, I didn't know any better so I paid it, and then they never shipped it to me. You live and you learn.

Since you received nothing for payment, I wouldn't consider this a purchase.
