British Open Contest
« on: July 16, 2007, 08:17:38 PM » |

In response to encouraging overtures from the audience... ... I suggest we have some sort of a Open Championship contest. Ideas? Maybe something like the darkhorse thing from the U.S. Open. Or perhaps we all pick a player from Australia, Europe, North America and Africa and total the prize money. Or something... Prizes? I still have my U2 DVD plus an extra If You Want Blood You've Got It CD. Anyone?

How about a blend of (a) winning score and (b) highest finishers from each of the US, UK and "International territory"?

As of right now there are 45 U.S. players, 42 from GB&I and 69 from elsewhere. That's a reasonable breakdown I think. Any objections to Clive's format? If not, I'll put it together before the end of the day.

Sounds good to me.
Thanks Whiskey! I can donate a sleeve or two of balls if needed for prizes.

Any objections to Clive's format? I object, but only because it was Clive who suggested it.

Aside from the suggestion coming from a namby-pamby sweater vest wearing college boy, I'm okay with it. Dystopia deferred his sleeve of Laddie Xtremes from the NBA contest for future use. I can throw that in the prize pot if necessary.

I can dig up an astounding prize, if asked nicely. Maybe a sweater vest or something.

Alright, here we go. I simplified slightly from Clive's proposal. You get to pick one guy from each of the three groups. Tiger is excluded as I think pretty much everyone would pick him. If you guys disagree with that let me know and we'll make him eligible. Total winnings for your three players wins. Hopefully there are enough prizes to cover in the event of ties. Please, if you notice a change in the field let me know.
