Preferred Grips?
« on: July 21, 2007, 10:14:34 PM » |

Currently most of my clubs are gripped with Wishon V-Series (Tour Velvet style) grips. Notable exceptions are my drivers, which both have GP New Decade Multi-Compound grips.
The V-Series are fine, nothing spectacular, they replaced Wishon Soft Wrap grips that I couldn't possibly hate more. I love the GP New Decades, but at nearly $7 per, they're a bit steep for me to do the whole set. I think when it comes time to re-grip (probably next season) I'll go with Lamkin Crosslines. I like them a lot.
You?

Currently rocking Golf Pride V-55 ribbed, stretched over some buildup tape.
Backup set will soon be assembled, using the ancient GripOne leather wraps I just found last night in a box in my golf crap. Gonna home-make some ribs to put under them. (These clubs may be the ones that go to Bandon.)

Had a chance to fondle the Feeltec grips (similar to Winns) and will be gripping my new iron shafts with them. In pink ladies.

Driver: Nike factory.
4 wood and irons: Lamkin Crossline.
Wedges: Golf Pride Velvet.
I really want to change out to some composite softer grip. The rubber really tears my hands apart.
I know, I know.............

Used Lamkin Crosslines for many years, in fact, these are on my irons. This year, however, with the abscence of regular play, my hands have gotten a bit soft, and the crosslines are bothering my left hand, (I don't wear a glove). The other clubs have one of several tyoes of Velvt grips. These are nice, but they do get a bit slick on sweaty days. I really like the Winn G8 V-17. I only have it on one driver, and I don't use that club anymore, but it always felt secure in my hands, and there was no abrasion.

Forgot to mention: I'm about to place an order with Golfworks that will include the Ping 703 midsize cord grip. Don't have Pings, but that's the only RIBBED midsize cord I can find on the market.

I was into the old squishy Winn Excel RF midsized for several years, then after I went to a 3-day school and overhauled my swing, I now prefer Tour Velvet .600s.

GP Players' Soffties.
Kinda squishy, but I'm getting a little arthritic in my right hand, and I don't hurt afterwards with these.
