I'm soon to be unemployed....

This is what my company insists that is needed to emerge from bankruptcy.
I must take a 20-50% pay cut
I will have an increase of 500% in health care premuims
I will have to work closer to 14 hour days rather than 9.5-10
I will recieve no holiday pay
I will have to work 6 days a week more often than not
I will have to accept 3rd party contractors doing my job
These are just the highlights. If the bankruptcy judge accepts these proposals, then I will give notice the next day.
Meanwhile, we have 7 layers of managment between the 'board' and front line sales people. The majority of these are do nothing back scratchers scrambling to justify their employment.
The hearing date is Oct 1.
Looks like I'll be taking a course to get my class A CDL and then learning to pour concrete, and haul aggregate.
Nothing like starting over at 50.

Once you get that CDL, employers will be knocking at your door. Good luck! I certainly hope that is the case. Although NAFTA gutted the transportation industry too. I have an 'in' with a local company that this CDL would nearly guarantee employment with. Thanks!  |
