Joe Jackson vs. Supertramp
« on: August 24, 2007, 08:43:49 PM » |
|
Dee Snyder famously (well, not so much) said "There were bands that died a death with the birth of MTV, like Supertramp and Joe Jackson."
Unfortunate alliteration aside, what say you?
Not even close for me. Supertramp all the way. Brothers in Arms is top ten all time... easy.
BTW, I don't know a single Joe Jackson song. LOL.

Is she really going out with him? Is she really going to take him home tonight?

I know Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms" but I do not remember Supertramp's. I'm going to have to look it up.

Supertramp's most successful album predated MTV. He must have meant Dire Straits.

Here's a rare Supertramp video. I don't think this was ever played on MTV.

I thought that was Rick Springfield or the Greg Kihn Band or somebody equally lame... seriously. No matter, only reinforces my vote.

Here's a rare Supertramp video. I don't think this was ever played on MTV. Best line from this song: Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical Liberal, fanatical, criminal. Cool trivia: At the end of the song when the singer says "digital", the sound clip representing a turnover on downs from Mattel's Electronic Football is played.
