Six Degrees of Ritchie Blackmore

Let's try a new game. I'll name two musicians, and you try to figure out the links between the musicians and the associated bands that form a continuous chain that connect the two musicians.
Rules: 1. Musician to musician links must be through band membership or a recorded studio performance. Band membership must also have yielded a recorded studio performance for the link to be legal. The recorded studio performance stipulation is to eliminate the use of tribute concert performances that may bring together many different artists and make this too easy. Also, there is no link between two musicians simply because one musician covers a song by another musician.
2. For the purposes of this game, a "band" can be a solo artist and his/her collection of back-up musicians. For example, "Ozzy Osbourne" can be used as both a band and a musician.
3. Links should be outlined in this form of: <Musician 1> - <Musician 2> (<Band/Performance>)
For example: Ian Gillan - Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple) Lita Ford - Ozzy Osbourne ("Close My Eyes Forever")
4. Adjacent links must end and start with the same musician. For example: Ian Gillan - Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple) Ritchie Blackmore - Graham Bonnet (Rainbow)
5. A corrollary to Rule 1 is that musicians must be contempories in the same band since they wouldn't have been able to record together otherwise. For example, Ronnie James Dio - Graham Bonnet (Rainbow) is illegal since they were not contemporaries.
6. The same band cannot be used in two consecutive links although they may be used multiple times in the same chain. This prevents the use of a long-time member of a band to serve as a common bond between two musicians that were not contemporaries. For example, this would be illegal:
Ronnie James Dio - Ritchie Blackmore (Rainbow) Ritchie Blackmore - Graham Bonnet (Rainbow)
7. Links do not have to be chronological order (which could make some chains impossible otherwise).
8. There could be multiple correct answers, but you only need to find one. However, shorter chains trump longer chains.
9. You do not have to use Ritchie Blackmore.
10. Use of Wikipedia is allowed and encouraged.
11. If you answer correctly, you're responsible for coming up with the next challenge.
OK. Got it?
Here's a fairly easy one to start with:
Tony Iommi -> Joe Lynn Turner

ditto. I'm not sure I get it completely,( ) but I'll give it a shot. Tony Iommi -> Joe Lynn Turner (Black Sabbath via Ian Gillan) ? [Edit: *feces*, I know that's not right. ]

I'm not 100% on this either.
Ronnie James Dio was in Rainbow.
Joe Lynn Turner was in Rainbow.
Ronnie James Dio was in Black Sabbath w/ Tony Iommi after Ozzy.

So rule #1 allows for Harrison-Clapton and also disallows Harrison-Clapton. Right?
I get this. It's very Irish.

Tony Iommi - Ian Gillan (Black Sabbath) Ian Gillan - Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple) Ritchie Blackmore - Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow)
I thought this would be easy.

So rule #1 allows for Harrison-Clapton and also disallows Harrison-Clapton. Right?
I get this. It's very Irish.
Rule #1 just means that you can use collaborations on a single song or album as links. A musician doesn't necessarily have to join the band. For example, David Bowie recorded "Under Pressure" with Queen, but Bowie never joined the band or never toured with Queen (I think). On the flipside, when bands tour they sometimes hire temporary musicians when regular bandmembers are too drunk or too coked up. It's too tough to verify these brief "guns for hire"-type associations even though these replacement muscians technically become members of the band. So I added the rule that band members must have recorded a studio work together for the link to count. Make sense?

I'll give it a try.
David Bowie <--> Jimmy Page.
This could be breaking rule #6 since Queen is part of two consecutive collaborations: David Bowie - Brian May ("Under Pressure") Brian May - Paul Rodgers (Queen + Paul Rodgers) Paul Rodgers - Jimmy Page (The Firm)
