do you talk on the phone while driving?
« on: October 18, 2007, 12:41:27 PM » |

this has been on my mind all the time lately, given my current circumstances. did the fact that the bitch that ran me over had a phone crammed in her ear distract her driving? maybe, maybe not. did the fact that she only had one hand available for a crisis situation make it more difficult for her to avoid me once she did see me? most likely. i have long been a pro "hands free" legislation guy, now more so than ever. i am of the opinion that anyone who text messages while driving should be shot on site.

nothing wrong with hands free imo (unless you also want to ban eating, drinking, and trying to parent kids in the car too)

No, I generally don't except to say 'I'll call you right back'.
'Nothing wrong with hands free' is turning out not to be the case from the few studies I've seen on it.

I try not to but sometimes have short conversations in the car. And I only text at stoplights.

I couldn't select one option.
I do not do it daily be any means, but I do sometimes make outgoing calls in addition to answering calls. Most of the time its hand-free, but not all. I'm all over the map.

Yes but I shouldn't. I think it's dangerous. I find myself 15 miles down the road without having looked in my mirrors once.

There wasn't an option that fit me. I don't get many calls, but I'll answer them. The conversations are usually short. I'll usually call me wife once on the way home. Again, usually short.

I'm on the phone(OnStar) most of the time I'm in the car. Seems to make sitting in traffic and commute much faster.

Somewhere between "never" and "only answer the phone when it rings." The decision is purely situational.

I rarely initiate a call while driving. I have and do answer the phone at times. But I know I really shouldn't.

You and spacey should get together and not order pay-per-view.

My car now has one of those in car kits, which is way better than those head set type arrangements. So technically my car is now a freakin' phone booth

Yes but I shouldn't. I think it's dangerous. I find myself 15 miles down the road without having looked in my mirrors once. I've found myself in the same situation. Everytime I get off I tell myself what an idiot I am. Usually in heavy traffic or situations that require full concentration I will put the phone down. Note: not there there is any situation when driving that full concentration is not required.

I have a mobile(cell) phone that sits in my bag. (if I really need it) It usually is uncharged. I don't even know my own phone number.
