War at Spanky's house
« on: October 25, 2007, 08:43:36 AM » |

My dog has fleas! (actually she is my wife's dog, mine is clean for now) Both are at the vet getting interrogated, dipped, cleaned, dewormed, shaved, disemboweled, and manicured (one of them is a girl you know).
I am looking at using diatomatious earth for the rug in the living room since that's the only place they are in the house. No WMDs yet as I have only seen about 3 right now. We are going to quash this uprising before it gets out of hand. The perimiter will be manned with nematodes as soon as they arrive. Chemical warfare is a last resort for this normally peaceful nation (but if the *feces* hits the fan by god I will press the button, don't *fudge* with me!)

Shock and awe. Fight them on the rug so you don't have to fight them on the couch. Make your house a beacon of freedom and diplomacy for the region. Most importantly: stay the course and don't let Ted Kennedy tell you how to wage your war.

Do you really think the plan you've described is comprehensive and exhaustive and is actually the most direct attack you can make upon the hun flea?
Here's how I would frame your situation:
Imagine you are George W Bush and the fleas are the terrorists.
Imagine you are allowed one chance, and one chance only, to roll back the clock and that you receive a do over. What would you do, and not do, now that you didn't or did do before?
It's one thing to put up pictures of George Patton and to salute the flag every morning, making all sorts of patriotic and war mongering utterances. I
It's a whole other matter to approach this with a singular intensity of purpose.

Good luck with that. We tried getting rid of the kids and moving, but they found us again.

Don't blame the dogs.
Blame the fleas.

Right now they are fine, one's a little PO'd at me for the treatment the past couple of days but she'll get over it. The other one (mine) is just happy as can be and probably doesn't remember yesterday (just like any boy). They have both been treated and I will have to give them some pills in about 3 weeks to treat for worms. In general for them life is back to normal.
The house gets sprayed this coming Friday so we will have to deal with the pests for another week. The Mrs on the other hand is not happy as she is finding more of the little buggers elsewhere. And as we all know: If SWMBO is not happy, no one is.
