patriots "running up the score"....

is this strategy going to get brady put further in the bullseye? the bills lost losman (ok, maybe that isn't really a loss... different topic) for a few weeks when a pats player cheapshotted him. i can't see these 4th quarter leave brady in to 'protect the 30 point lead' strategies as not inspiring at least a few teams to go after him hard if the game is already over on the scoreboard.

I can't believe throwing TD passes in the 4th quarter when you're up by 30+ is ultimately going to be good for your health. If he goes down in that situation I wonder how quickly the press will shift from "genius" Belichick to "idiot" Belichick.

Running up the score is one thing, protecting your players is another. The Pats can run up the score all they want if the "key players" are safe, ie short dump passes, out passes, screens, etc... Saying that (since I don't get to actually watch any of the games) playing the game as they always play is not being idiotic. They are a good team and if they can't be stopped then they deserve to win as they have.
Running up a score in college is one thing but running up a score in the pros is different. They get paid to play and if they suck then they loose their job.
Protecting players can also be a bad thing. I'll use the Mav's from last season. They rested players at the end and what happened? Blown out in the first round. I am not suggesting the Pats would be like that, taking players out or changing the game plan in the hopes to save a player is just that, a hope. That player can easily get hurt in the next game, practice, or driving home. I say let the players play as they normally do, that is what they are best at.
Poke holes as you wish.

If you don't want a team to run up the score on you, then stop them!
If the other team can't stop them, that's the other teams problem.
The Pats are just executing their game plan.

Pat.s running up the score is quite simple.
Belichick to NFL: *fudge*.me?
Belichick to NFL, and rest of the league: *fudge*.you!
And it seems right now, he has the tools to make his point.

I heard Joe didn't say anything about the score to the press but I am sure the team heard it.

no argument. just wondering if anyone thinks some teams (especially defenses) see it differently and might take a shot at him. maybe the bills for revenge, maybe the dolphins to protect their '72 team. (it's not like they have anything to play for anyways... why not send 8 every single play). or maybe ray lewis' ego gets the better of his judgement

LOL! Aske, I agree it's risky. Hard to keep a racehorse from running I suppose.

That's why I'm so surprised that Brady wears a football helmet that comes up so far in the back. One hit to the back and he's toast.
