I spent Sun-Tues in Hartford this week. First time to New England. After two days in Philadelphia last year it was my second time to the northeast beyond airports. Pleasantly surprised. Delightful people. Easily the friendliest and most helpful wait staff I've ever been around. If you're in a good mood doing that job you're a happy, happy person. Easily the least crowded city I've ever visited. I know Monday was a federal holiday but, even so, downtown Hartford was a ghost town. You could walk a block seeing only two people and three moving cars. Good restaurant grub. Unfortunately, I was eating on an expense account and it has predominant religion strings attached so I stuck to ice tea. Fortunately, a $50 steak dinner was no problem at all. I could live there. Nice place.

I was stationed down in rotten Groton for 4 years and CT is not bad. More expensive then TX but still a nice state. Can't disagree with you.

I thought about it but the the expense account with predominant religion strings attached bit brought me to my senses. Hookin' up with stroh for ice tea? Just don't see it.

We're planing a trip to Florida in Aug. I'll see if the wife wants to take a slight 1300 mile detour.

I may go look this up on Urban Dictionary... Well, I'm dismayed to find that "Paul Bunyan" does return a hit.
