I'm not going to be embarrassed about working my ass off to get to where I am. But we're also not very consumerist.(*) The amount we'd save buying from some warehouse wouldn't amount to much, anyway.
(*) = For example, I've bought three stereo receivers since 1985; the second and third were only because the ones before them broke. I'm on my second CD player in that time span; only one DVD player in that span (and no Blueray/HD-DVD in our future, either). We own one TV; yeah, it's an HD model, but we talked about it for about two years before we finally had our old one die and force our hands. The bulk of my golf crap, and all the name-brand stuff with one exception, was bought used.
The odd thing is, I'm cheap.
(And the above should not be construed to mean that anyone not making a lawyer's income didn't work hard to get to wherever such person is. Just that you don't wake up and find the law degree and job offer under the Christmas tree. I chose my path, others chose theirs. We each live with the good and the bad of our choices.
