Costco v. Sam's Club ?
« on: November 18, 2007, 07:16:23 AM » |

We have always had memberships at both. I find that we seldom if ever go to Sam's anymore. Price wise, they seem comparable. Distance does play a part. I think we will probably drop the Sam's membership.
Anybody else?

we have both. distance isn't an issue as we have like 3 of each within 10 mile radius.

We really have no stores that are a convenient distance from home. But we have a Costco as that is the closest. I hope that one is built closer because like I said it just isn't convenient for us to use on a regular basis.

We switch paying for the membership with MIL. So this is her year and she chose Costco. Have compared and seems they have roughly the same stuff with a toss up on more expensive or cheaper. Probably stick with Costco because it's closer for us.

Sam's Club is closer, but it is included in our Walmart boycott. We like that Costco pays its employees a decent living wage and offers a full benefits package, so we go there.

I prefer Costco, but we shop @ Sam's because it is closer, and we still have a business membership that allows to get in a couple of hours before the public.

Had both, settled on Costco mainly due to their wine selection. If any of you are into reds and can find Cameron Hughes, it may be the best sub 10.00 wine I've ever had. Current release (#48) is a meritage that is quite tasty. #34 and #35 are excellent cabs.

Neither. I keep meaning to get a Costco membership, but never get around to it. Might be a good indication of how often we'd go, though.

I like Sam's mostly due to my unwaivering support of WalCo. They underpay their employees and stiff them on benefits thus jump-starting the poor buggars toward education, initiative and hard work in the pursuit of the American Dream.
Or it's closer.

Savings on dog food alone more than covers the cost of the membership. Their meat and produce is far superior to that available at our local grocery store. The only drawback is that you have to buy so much of it. We split a lot of stuff with my parents.

Where do you have to go? Eden Prairie - Costco. Not all that far I guess but we don't go that way for work or anything so it's always a special trip. Closest Sam's is across the river in Shakopee. Same reasons as above but it's also a bit farther away.

It's a convenience thing for us too. Costco is closer and it has cheap gas, usually 10 cents a gallon cheaper.

Neither. We're a "support local, independent businesses" family.
(The above is just my family's approach to this topic. It isn't meant to be judgmental of you stupid *fudge*s.)
