I think Clive's question has some merit to it now. Many responses of being looked upon differently, albeit having the same level of intelligence, and character.
I still think (although wondering how you would be received is difficult, and begs the question*, how am I perceived now? Is it really the way I think?) My case would not be that different. Instead of them ignoring my personnel rants about the vikings, the would actually be inviting me to the purse party this Friday.
*I still don't understand it's proper use.

Ok, I'm starting grasp some purchase on this.
So, was my original usage correct? I.E. Didn't my first question raise another?

Replace "begs" with "raises" in your original sentence, and you're fine.

In the term "begs the question" the "question" is not really a question as such, it is, rather, an argument. The term "beg" does not mean "request" or "ask", but rather it means essentially to use the argument to support the argument. It's an example of circular logic.
Example:
"Dune rules because Frank Herbert is the best author of all time and he couldn't possibly write anything that sucks." (Apologies to U.B.)

Wow. I guess I can take refuge in the fact that at some level I was smart enough to know that I wasn't smart enough to know how to use it.

Unless you were a speech and debate dork in high school, it's probably a good idea to avoid using the term.

If you were a chick, you'd still probably not know how to use the term right but could probably just flash some cleavage and get away with it.

We didn't have speech or debate in my school.
I grew up during the Reagan Administration. I was part of the "It's ok if some kids don't get it" program.
