Could have been 60 according to news reports.
Leaving the maximum penalty number out of it, did Vick get off easy at 38.3% of max?

Probably, with an impending early release for good behavior. I say 11 to 13 months max.
(I mean, yes. I think he got off easy with the sentence handed down)
Did I hear that he could expect to be prosecuted at the state level as well?

I know the State was going after him. Not sure where that stands. I remember the "experts" all predicting about a year in prison a few months ago. Getting off easy is probably a matter of perspective. I just read where federal sentencing guidelines called for 12-18 months so

Also, the first two co-defendants got 18 and 21 months. The third will be sentenced this week.

Leaving my passion for the subject out of the discussion: while the sentence might be a bit light, when you combine it with the overnight loss of his career and his wealth, it's tough to say he "got off easy." The sad thing in my mind is that I sincerely doubt he's actually learned anything for the experience. Hopefully he can at least stand as an example for others.

Will his career be over though? I can see the Raiders picking him up somewhere down the line. One thing's for sure. Regardless of whether or not he plays again, I don't see anybody signing him to an endorsement contract. He'll be a marketing pariah.

I don't look any farther than Ricky Williams.

I don't see even the Raiders picking him up, as at this point he's just too much of a PR liability. Stranger things have happened in this league, though. Even if he's given another opportunity, I think it's tough to imagine a scenario in which he'd ever be a premier player in the league again, particularly after having been away from the game for 23+ months. *Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that federal sentencing does not allow for time off for good behavior.

This was in the article I read: Federal rules governing time off for good behavior could reduce Vick's prison stay by about three months, resulting in a summer 2009 release.

I doubt he'll ever be a starting QB in the NFL again. Not because the NFL has any ethical standards, but because he wasn't a very good starting QB to begin with. As a passer he was average at best, and among the worst on bad days. He could be looking at four years off from competitive football, and that's not going to make him a better QB than he was previously.
However, I'd bet that we'll see him on the field again. He could be a devastating "Slash" type player, running the ball, playing out of the slot, and passing the ball on option plays. Someone would take a chance on that. Not to make light of his crimes, but there have been guys who did really bad things to HUMANS who managed to get back in the league. Having a criminal record will haunt him and limit his income ability and access to some teams, but it won't end his career. Not having good legs at age 30, after several years away from the game, could end his career a lot easier.
