MVP Rant.

MVP does not mean "Best Player In The League". Or, Dude with the best stats.
The establishment will no doubt give it to Brady, and I'm a Brady fan, but it cheeses me.......
The League MVP should be the guy who does/has done the most to get his team to a particular point.
What is the team without his contributions?
e.g. Adrian Peterson. Would the Queens be anywhere the team they are now without him? Not 7 and 6, that's for sure.
Number 4's name comes up, but not often enough. Is there any way G.B. is where they are at with Favray? No way. He is, IMO, the runaway candidate for MVP.
Not just the Dreamy looking guy who has won a bunch of games.
My pick...#1 Favray, #2 Moss, #3 Peterson, and I would even throw Derek Anderson in the mix for saving Romeo Crenell's job.

Yesterday's game proved that the Viqueens can win without Peterson.

Yes it does. I understand that the acronym stands for Most Valuable Player but the award always goes to the league's best player. Value to team has not historically played a (significant enough) role. This award can't go to anyone other than Brady IMO. I can't stand NE and I'd love to see them miss on the ring but there's no question in my mind that Brady deserves the award.

LOL You're not the boss of me. I'm sure it goes to Brady hands down. I'd like to see it shaken up a bit. Same deal the year Morneauzy won it. Santanazy should have been both the Cy Young, and MVP, but it just isn't done.

Yesterday's game proved that the Viqueens can win without Peterson.
Peterson was in that game. That changes the dynamic of the game. Like when Moss would get 1 catch for 7 yards, and no TD. "Moss wasn't a factor" Yes he was. So much so, the the other team threw every resource to stop him. Result: Moss 0 Team 1.

The game was won by the Queen's defense. Peterson was in the game, but he could have been home "Banishing a white russian from the kremlin" or "Hating 'Merka" and it wouldn't have matter.

Most valuable to his team can be tough to define. $1000 is more valuable to me than $100,000 is to Bill Gates, but no one would argue that $100,000 is not more valuable than $1000. Just because a team has other assets doesn't mean their most valuable asset is worth less.
The best player is the most valuable player in my view. I hate the Patriots like poison, but if they run the table then Brady gets my vote.

the award should go to the player who , by subtraction, would cause the most drastic change in his teams w/l record. of course, this can't actually be quantified (any given sunday syndrome)... so yeh, they just always give it to whatever flashy name on a playoff level puts up the gaudiest stats that season

To my mind, "Most Valuable" means the player that the other teams would most like to have on their own team. Ask 32 general managers/coaches which one player they would take if they could poach one.
My guess is that Tom Brady gets more votes than any other player.

Interesting take. Do they have to replace their "best"? Brady would falter here. Kick ass offense not withstanding.

Yes, they would replace. Put another way: if you could blink your eyes and turn one of your players into a Star Player on another team, which Star Player would it be?
