Lottery Players?
« on: December 10, 2007, 08:33:29 PM »

Anyone here into it?  I have always played the occasional Power Ball "when it gets big enough"  Like starting out at 15 million isn't "big enough" for me.  I should have bought more tickets.  I always forget.

There are now 3 lotteries here. (well prolly have been for a while, but like other things, I'm oblivious)  I'm gonna start playing.

Time to start paying my fair share of "the tax on the poor"

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner.

We usually buy a ticket when we're in Idaho, but we don't make a special trip.

We have to drive about an hour to Idaho to get tickets, so we only play when the jackpot are up there and I can convince my wife to make the drive.

I may spend a buck or two on the SuperLotto game on the few occasions in which I might have to go into the foodmart while pumping gas, but it's only if the payout exceeds the 41 million-to-1 odds. (Like it really matters.  Grin)

I sometimes buy Powerball tickets, but only after the payout exceeds $100 million.  I mean, what am I going to do with only $50 million?  Not even worth my while to claim it.

Not me.  I don't give my money to the Vegas lot either.  My wife takes the money she would put into the lottery, throws it into a jar, and takes the jar to Vegas every year.  I watch her have fun pissing it away, until she tells "The Cooler", me, to get lost and go get some sleep.

Soon to be your local trash man.

I don't play golf anymore.   Well, maybe I do sort of.  I quit keeping score, started drinkning beer and I started playing better.

Never have as far as I remember.

Someone in my family won a seven figure payout about five years ago.

Probably $15-$20 a year. I'm one of the 'wow the powerball is getting big I better get a ticket' players. My parents are diligent though - $2.00 every Wednesday and Saturday playing the same 2 sets of numbers for as long as the powerball has been in MN. They've won $100 a couple of times IIRC.

I buy lottery tickets whenever I get sick of my job, usually just $2 at a time.  It's worth $2 to dream for a few days about being able to stop working.

Sometimes I look at it as my early retirement plan.

Normally, I'm something of an optimist, but when it comes to the lottery (or really any other gambling games), I don't really believe I'll win more than I put in.  So, I don't bother playing.

In Vegas, I'm one of those folks that finds the change machines to be the most fun.  Guaranteed payout!   Grin
