Another Auld Lang Syne
« on: December 16, 2007, 04:39:15 PM »

Some of his songs were like catnip for cats for some gals I knew in high school. And a sad reminder for guys my age to start taking annual doctors exams seriously.

Singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg, famed for the soaring vocals and elegant instrumentation of tunes such as “Longer” and “A Love Like This,” died on Sunday, three years after being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. He was 56.

My roommate introduced me to Fogelberg's music back in 1976.  This was before he become well-known for Longer, Leader of the Band, etc.

I took my girlfriend (and future to wife) to his concert at Michigan State in 1978.  She had never heard of him.  About two years later he hit the big-time.  We saw again in concert about 15 years ago.

RIP Dan.
