Favorite time of the year
« on: December 22, 2007, 01:51:17 PM »

Nothing like driving around the mall parking lot and streets the Saturday before Christmas.

Really puts you in the holiday spirit.

its hilarious around here this time of year

our area (somewhat close to pitt / cmu campuses (campi ? whatever.) is relatively quiet and far less traffic than usual- no real shopping (holiday *feces* wise) , and about 60k people gone home for 3+ weeks.   the suburb area and other pure-shopping districts, lines of traffic that's never there, even some redirect onto residential streets  Shocked

I despise trying to get anywhere around a mall this time of year. Teh interwebs is a wonderful thing for someone like me who shops online.  Grin Cool

It's the most wonderfulest.

Off when the shops open in morning for a few last things - mostly menu items and stocking stuffers.  Sundays are great around here.  Half the population won't shop and if you go early you can beat the rest of them to the punch.  Have the place to yourself even this time of year.

Monday will be hell.

Nah, can't really.  Only asked for about four things this year and three of them are movies - Bourne III, Queen and Blade Runner.  Other than those I don't have a big-time HD-DVD wishlist just at the moment.

Now, if that's still on Wednesday I'm off for Pan's Labyrinth and The Kingdom.

those 2 qualify, and the sale runs all week - but* if your bbuy is like mine around here, they won't restock those titles until well after the sale wears off.  "supply issues" my ass

ps, blade runner  is AMAZING.  bourne only slightly* less so.  mainly because I never got to see runner in the theatre, this is the 1st time seeing/hearing it in ultra high quality as intended.

pps,  kingdom is already in stores everywhere, pan's in some locations (per avs, but none of mine have it) and eastern promises seems MIA everywhere (to only be put out tomorrow).  all of those 3 'new titles' have been bumped from their original 12/26 release to at worst 12/23 (tomorrow)

Cool, I can't wait for that one.  It's probably been 20 years since I've seen it.  Definitely wasn't in the DVD era and possibly not even on VHS.  I did see it in the theaters and that must have been in high school or just out.  I barely remember how it goes.

I knew Kingdom and Eastern Promises were bumped but not PL.  Who knows, if I don't get the three on my list I might be out for $100 worth of movies on Wed.

Was in it half the day.  Got most of our errands done.  Still cut it early due to traffic, crowds, weather, and I needed a beer.
