Ideas for January Contest?
« on: January 02, 2008, 02:00:26 PM » |
|
So this site made $25 in December from ads, and I was thinking it would be fun to have a contest in January and paypal this amount to the winner. It's not much, it's worth less than other contests we've had, but it was one of my goals in the beginning was to see if this site could be run like a co-op.
Does anyone have an idea for a good contest?
One idea is a contest to go along with the Mercedes Championship or maybe an NFL contest, but that may exclude folks that have no interest in football and involves some effort from each person to make an entry.
I thought about Most Karma Obtained in January or Most Posts, but those can be easily gamed and would probably be too distracting.
Another possible idea could be a Best Thread in January, where "best" can be interpreted however you want (most fun, poignant, humorous, most helpful, most threadjacked, etc.) Anyone can nominate a thread, and at the end of the month we throw up a poll and vote for a winner.
We can try one contest this month and if it bombs, try something different next month.
Any ideas?

I also thought about a "Most Exclamation Points" contest, but I think Jules would win, hands down.

Hey, since Blader decided to start smiting me into negative figures for using esclamations, I have stopped using them. (I always had him on a pedestal, as being one of the funniest men on the internet, but now I know he is just a grammar-nazi ).

Dys, being incharge of this site, I thought that you would have known. Aren't you like BigBrother, who can see everything.

This red hat avatar theme has been fun, what about another theme for next month, to see who can get the best avatar for it.

So Blader was the Grammar Nazi! Everybody is assuming that there's only one shooter. I believe that there are others lurking in the grassy knoll.

I like the best avatar idea. We'll need a running thread to keep track since some folks change avatars frequently.
