LOL - I haven't done that one before Years ago when I was a new admin for a NIS/NFS configuration (about 50+ SGI workstations) - the first thing I did was modify the prompts on each workstation so we knew which one we were logged into while executing commands. This was all started by witnessing a co-worker shutdown the server thinking he was on a new workstation we were setting up. Nothing like having the entire engineering department posse seeking to place your head on a pike

Nothing like having the entire engineering department posse seeking to place your head on a pike the funny thing is I told my coworker early on i thought it was a shell problem of some sort (since outgoing ssh worked, nfs mounts were in place, local nis logins worked, etc) but we bothered going through a thorough debugging , ssh reinstall, etc.... for at least an hour before getting down to trying shell changes but yeh, you should see my command line prompts

After reading this thread I have realized I am beyond stupid. Not only do I not understand half of what I have read, the other half I do understand doesn't make sense. I'll just stick with my screwdrivers and wrenches and just fix *feces*.
I need to go wash my blue collar shirts.
