How many USB ports do you regularly use?
« on: November 27, 2006, 02:54:55 PM »

Well, as of now, we don't use THAT many... but when our new PC arrives, between it and my laptop...

2/3 external hardisks
2/3 usb flash drives
1 keyboard
2 mouse
2 camera cables
1 scanner
1 printer (maybe)

Are we talking all at once? If so, I use maybe 2-3 at a time.

Right now, only 2 full time.  Keyboard/mouse, and camera.  Ipod uses the third.

Only have 2 ports for now, and their always in use.  Webcam and printer.  And it's a pain to have to unplug something on of them to plug in something else.

No.  From what I hear, a substantial miss on my part.  It is still in my plans of "must see"

Amen. My dying laptop has 2 ports only (and none is a usb 2, which makes adding a hub impossible), and I use them for mouse and webcam (I talk with my mom in Greece almost every day, it's cheaper than telephone!), so when I have to load stuff from let's say my camera or a usb thumb it's a hassle. Especially when I have to do so WHILE talking to my mom on webcam, which means unplugging the mouse and having to use the mouse pad on the laptop. Rawr.

That's one reason why.  The second is because you're at the computer more than me.  Tongue  Cheesy

Have you considered an adapter for the mouse?  That way the mouse could be plugged into the designated mouse port (whatever that thing is called, brain dead at the moment).
