it's official i'm jobless.

I just came from the meeting, and it was worse than i thought. they terminated (their term not mine) 57% of the employees today. it wasn't pretty. 99% of these people had no idea it was coming, i did. seniority played no part, it was strictly down a fiscal line. those who made the least still have jobs. my boss who is also a good friend, apologized 20 times to me personally because he had no say in the matter. They hired a guy to help me and he started 3 days before  the accident he now has my job. Due to their German style of mismanagement they lost our 2 biggest contracts with Chrysler. As i said, i was pretty sure i was going to be let go regardless. but i had to feel sorry for most of these people the majority of which are production workers, some of which had been there for 7 years. people who have been there less than a year will be doing there job tomorrow. Things are really ugly in this area right now. not a good time to be looking for a job, but the truth of the matter is working for this company was the worst experience of my life and i'm glad to be free of there.  |

no, i worked for a German company, Goertz and Schiele. they have plants in Michigan, Germany, Mexico and China. their specialty is high production CNC machining of auto, tractor and motorcycle parts. |

So, you got your job back after they took it away from the accident/convalescence?
well, this is where it is kinda cloudy. i was cleared last Wednesday to go back to work on monday. then they called on Friday and said not to come in because they had someone doing my job and had to clear the staffing levels with the VP who was out of town until today. then they called this afternoon and said i was being let go with a bunch of other people due to a lack of work. so if it wasn't for the accident i would still be employed, but they said they let me go due to a lack off work. my wife wants me to talk to the lawyer tomorrow. there is several things in play here. the insurance company (according to my wifes friend who works in the industry), has to keep paying my lost wages if i lost my job due to the accident. the company says that they laid me off due to a lack of work, but that isn't true. |
