I agree with the "intent".  He knew what he was doing.

I do argue the verbage, and to some degree Aske's take.

Here's my question:  How did he get caught?  I mean how did they find him?  I go into Wal-Mart, and hit the joint for 6 bills...........store security camera me all you want.  How does that help you find out where I live?  The only thing I can think is if they had parking lot cam.s, and got his plate.

Why don't you go to church and watch the Super Bowl.

Need to stay at home just in case *feces* starts falling out of my garage and good, honest citizens start walking away with it humming "finders keepers; losers weepers".

Walking out with money that isn't yours is no different than walking out with store merchandise that you didn't pay for. With that being said, if the dumbass didn't go back 9 more times, he probably wouldn't have been caught.

Quote
The mistake wasn't noticed until a customer complained that the machine gave a $1 bill in change instead of a 20.

I understand, but he got caught after the fact because of the number of purchases made. If the guy (who happened to be a store employee) didn't go back for more, nobody would have noticed that he used that particular machine, and he could have at least claimed that he simply wasn't aware of the discrepancy in the change being dispensed.

I have to admit that there have been times when I notice that something I purchased from the supermarket didn't end up on the receipt (i.e. due to bad scan I suppose). Whether I noticed it immediately or not, I usually don't go back to report it because I'm too lazy and I figure that it's a wash from all the times that I've been ripped off when the dumbass cashier double scanned something.

Same here.
