Most Bizarre PC Problem- any ideas?
« on: February 16, 2008, 06:46:12 AM »

everytime my laptop goes into hibernation mode  or  gets a windows update (which is a lot in the last few days!)    the wireless card loses its connection to my router and  normal 'repair' doesnt work.  it views the available networks, so it isn't completely broken,  and if i run a tcp/ip stack reset while it's trying the repair then it just magically , instantly, 'fixes'
 Huh?

I used to have something similar to this a while ago.  What kind of wifi adapter are you packing?  Built into the laptop? PCMCIA/PC card? (looks like you said card, what model?)

What happens if you go to |Power Options|Hibernate and uncheck "Enable Hibernation"?  Does that change the behavior at all?

I'm curious if the problem happens in both "System Standby" mode as well as "Hibernate" mode.

Another question:

Does the same behavior happen when you use the either the Windows Wifi or the manufacturer's wifi software?

My problems were with an internal Intel 2200BG wifi adapter and were similar to this:
