http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/golf/7262824.stmAsked if he could win every tournament from now, he said: "That's my intent." Irish bookmakers have Woods at 12-1 on the Grand Slam. The only player who gets better odds than that on any SINGLE major is Phil at the US Open (10-1). They simply don't want your bet if you're backing Tiger. Amazing. If he were to pull off an unbeaten season it would be the greatest accomplishment in the history of sport. Tiger in his 30s will easily be the greatest decade in the history of golf. It's like watching man land on the moon boys. Don't be haters... enjoy it.

Totally agree. There are plenty of haters, but I think there is little doubt that 50 years from now fathers and grandfathers will be telling stories of how they "saw" what this man did. Akin to Ruth, Ali, Kofax, Sea Biscuit, et al. I'm anxious to see this season. I think it may well eclipse 2k. The Modern Grand Slam, while improbable (even for him) is not impossible. Not unlike Brady coming back next season and hitting that 19er.....eh gleek?

Seriously, though. That statement alone.......... Having to bet "The Field" against one guy.
(not a statement on you, just remarking on the scope of what he bring to the table/a tournament)

I'm not saying they're anything other than reasonable odds though. Hater. This year is geared for him in a big way. Other than Oakland Hills I figure he's close to a sure thing.

you guys think he's so great, i'll take the field on preventing the slam vs him taking it . I'll take that bet. As I sit here right now, I think he's got the field beat for the first two majors, the funny thing is I believe the field believes he has them beat, it's becoming more and more obvious. I don't care how "the field" wants to spin it, they know he has them beat before anyone even tees off. Barring some unforeseen injury.

Ps. Explain the bet to me though as I am wager challenged.
If Tiger (Me) wins the grand slam, (quite possibly) THE hardest thing in all of sports. I get a sleeve of balls.
If the field (you) wins I have to pay 100 dollars to go see Cannibal Corpse/Cryptopsy/Darkthrone/Deicide/Dismember?
Something seems outta' whack daddy-o.

While our young doctor is usually cogent, witty, affable and the epitome of logical thought it seems his faculties desert him when it comes to The Nike'd One. It could be his fatal flaw. Stay tuned for Act III.

I like watching Tiger play but it is nice when someone is near him to make it a challenge. I just don't care to see him win by 6+ strokes. But the matches with Holmes and Baddaley were great. I'm sure he'll have a great chance of winning them all and just might. But it would be nice if other guys have a chance too so the final round will have at least some drama. Or as much drama as, Tiger is most likely going to win but how will he do it this time, can offer.

People say they don't want Tiger running away with tournaments, but those feats are by definition a display of the greatness that is in debate. Had Tiger won in '97 by 1 stroke, would he be the source of such conversation today? The Open at Pebble? Without the runaway step on testicles factor, he's just another really good golfer who has won a lot. A male Annika. She's good, but she doesn't master a field, or change it's outcome just by showing up.

My biggest problem with Tiger is hardly Tiger's fault. Even when he's running in the middle of the pack, he commands a grossly disproportionate amount of air-time and fawning commentary. Hell, even when he's not playing they still spend a lot of time talking about him. Of course I realize that some huge percentage of casual golf viewers tune in just to see what/how Tiger's doing so the broadcast team is simply giving their viewers what they want. Like I say, it's not really Tiger's fault.
That being said, dude's a remarkable talent and amazing to watch, particularly when he's shooting lights out. I still prefer to see a competitive match rather than watching the rest of the pack battle for a distant 2nd place. Again, though, Tiger just goes out and does what he does, it's not his fault when no one stands up to him.

How about if you win, Dystopia has to take 10,000 posts away from Aske and give them to you.
