I voted cast, because my irons fall into that unholy region between forged and cast called "Form Forged", but they're more cast than forged.
It's funny, a year and a half ago, I was a complete Forged 1020/1035 carbon steel guy playing Maltby M-05s/Miz. mx-23s and SnakeEyes black wedges. But now, looking at my Kenneth Smith Milled Cavities, GolfSmith Tour C wedge and Golden Bear BearClaw wedge, I guess I've gravitated toward cast 304 stainless.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, feels quite like hitting a forged iron perfectly. It's like bouncing marshmallows off your forehead. Not that I've ever done that.

I think it's a Utah thing. They wouldn't understand.

one is better than the other: I've hit both. Both (to me) can feel like butter, when hit in the right spot.

Quite honestly, while currently my irons and wedges are both forged, I probably fall into this camp as well. I think by and large, though, that you can more reliably rely on the feel of forged over cast as a general rule. This isn't to say there aren't a variety of cast options that feel every bit as good as forged, but not all cast options do. $.02.

It's an opinion thing so obviously everyone is right. If you prefer F over C or visa-versa then you just do.
It seems likely that it comes down to the player, the particular equipment and probably a dozen other variables.
But I can say this for me. My 550Cs feel five times better in the sweet spot than my TA-5s. I'm not a club HO and the only other set I've owned in the past ten years has been some Cobra knock-offs and I sucked large at golf back then. I can only compare the previously mentioned sets.

Could just be that the 550Cs kick large-scale ass.

I love my irons. It's a manly love. In a Marines fighting cheek by jowl in Belleau Wood sort of way.
