holy crap, from about age 7-15 or so cards were my hobby (sad and pathetic, yes) but I really should go about getting the good ones graded (god , that will cost a fortune) and dump them off since I doubt Sal and I will have any kids to pass em down to. i have a ton of classics/vintage that apparently have survived in value even as the whole 1992 or so product binge devalued all current cards.

Do it. My brother and I went through all our cards (roughly '69-'83 vintage stuff) about 10 years ago. We separated the ones that had value at the time and put them in a photo album. I should pull them out and check the $ again now that you bring it up.

He used to be in the merchant marine and had them from all over the world. He gave them to me and I've hauled them all over as we emigrated. I have no idea what their value might be. Could be straight junk or worth thousands.

I shudder to think what we trashed in bike spokes, etc. But I know we have a few rookie cards that were worth something. Joe Montana I remember for sure. I really need to grab the album and go through it again.

I collected Football cards when I was a kid. I left them at my mom's house when I moved out because I didn't want to haul them from apartment to apartment. Once I got married and bought a house, I decided that it was time to gather them up. Mom donated them to Deseret Industries (local goodwill joint) thinking I didn't care about them, which is why I left them there.
I can't remember all that I had but I know I had several rookie cards including: Elway, Montana, Payton, Marino, and a handful of other eventual legends. I also had several entire teams including 1984 49ers, 1985 Bears, and 1986 Giants.

I was looking at other auctions and it appears $40-$300 is a range for Montana rookie I should be expecting. I may have to have someone take a look at this one though.

My grandmother never threw anything away, so my Dad's old baseball collection is in tact and in perfect condition. Last time I looked through it he had practically every card from that late 50s early 50s.
Numerous Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Mickey Mantle, Johnny Bench etc. Some of them are rookie cards. The prize of the collection I'd say would be the 4 Nolan Ryan rookie cards with two of them being in excellent condition.

oops at my earlier post about hte 8 wagner. the really f'd up thing about the grading process is that it's not absolute, it's relative. what is a offcenter, slightly rounded corner 6.0 for a 2006 card would be a 9 or 10 if it's one of the only 2 known copies of some 1940's card for example (extreme, but yes). sounds like fredo has the real jackpot. i didn't grow up then, but i did dump just about all my lawnmowing $ from that era into cards--gotta love nice guys who will do layaway for an 10 year old LOL i have a few mantles, i have a ryan rookie that would grade well (that i won at a card show ! , truly at least a 9+ card, and IIRC there has not ever been a 10 for this card... notorious printing off center issues) , etc. probably about 500 pre 1970 cards that might be worth grading, and another 500 or so from 1970-1993 or so that might be worth grading. unfortunately, i'd need to dump off 2-3 of the most valuable just to afford that much grading in a bulk session
