Last year the local radio rubes compared our pitching staff with Glavine, Smoltz, and Maddux from '91(maybe it wasn't '91. But in their dominant days, anyway).

It's hard to believe that the Braves won only one WS with Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz in the rotation.

Agreed. Got what 14 or so straight division titles? They're like the Minnesota Vikings/Buffalo Bills of the NL.

does anyone think any other pitchers will even get to 300? i don't. johnsons too old and injury prone. pettite got a ton of wins playing behind a mega offense. nobody else even remotely has a chance.

Johnson may get there as he clearly has the best shot now. 16 wins in two years is doable for sure even at his age.
For younger guys I have no idea if anyone can make it to 300. In order to do so they'll have to transform their pitching style like Maddox did. Go from a power pitcher to a control pitcher with movement and offspeed. Also get really lucky to be on a good team and have very few injuries. Pitching is just so hard on the body it really is an amazing accomplishment.

Randy is only 16 wins shy, tough call, outside shot. Mussina 49 shy at age 39 again tough call 10 win seasons x 5, again outside shot. After that I think you're right, the sad thing is with the two exceptions noted I don't think there will be another 300 game winner evar. We'll see. http://www.baseball-refer...om/leaders/W_active.shtml

LOL Santana is sitting at 94 wins, with all of those coming on a horribly under-offenced( ) team. 4 out of those 5 years, he got absolutely no run support. I'm surprised he won the Cy Young. My point is he should have a lot more than 94 wins right now, but even with that, he may have a shot if he stays healthy.
