I guess they figured that it was easier to ban these lasers than to try and catch the little buggers doing it....

But like a lot of new legislation, it doesn't really get thought out very well. "Knee-Jerk" legislation rarely works, and you just end up making the situation worse because you *fudge*ed it up in the first place.  Cool

We had a bunch of these incidents at the SLC airport a while back.  I'm not sure they ever caught the bad guys.  I understand one first officer had to receive medical attention for it but I don't think he suffered permanent damage.

Anyway, it's not the pointers you see in the boardroom that's the worry.  It's the dazzlers used for military purposes.  Outlawing the Sharper Image version is like outlawing Cutco 'cuz someone was sliced up in a knife fight last night.
