OK, I'll Ask Here, Too

Websites like pricegrabber.com, become.com, bizrate.com, shopping.yahoo.com, etc. -- how do they get their content, showing the item and various online places/prices? Web crawlers? Sheer human effort?
I'm having a trademark misuse issue at work. Our customers aren't misusing our mark, but shopping sites like the above ARE. Trying to figure out if I have to chase every last one, or if they pull data from somewhere. It'd be nice to cut off the head and watch the whole beast die.

Looking at two of the sites above, it looks like they grab their content from more than one source. 1) The most common method looks like a Merchant/online store provides a data feed from their website that pricegrabber or become.com aggregates and displays. Say I run a puny website selling crap online: a) I register as a merchant on pricegrabber or become.com. b) I set up a data feed (essentially a text listing) on my site with all my products (prices, all the text/descriptions, urls to images) c) My feed has to match the specs they provide: https://www.become.com/me...ataFeedSpecification.aspxhttps://partner.pricegrab...in.php?sec=2&ccode=usd) Then I either upload my feed to their server or they have an automated process to grab my feed periodically from my server. 2) It looks like PriceGrabber also has an option to manage your own storefront through their site if you don't have a store. Yahoo Stores seem like they're mostly managed through Yahoo's site. This is just from a cursory glance, though. It would be interesting to see if a misused mark on bizrate/pricegrabber matches the same mistake on a merchant's own site. And then see if the same product from different merchants within bizrate/pricegrabber all have the same misuse.

blah blah blah Thanks. It would be interesting to see if a misused mark on bizrate/pricegrabber matches the same mistake on a merchant's own site. And then see if the same product from different merchants within bizrate/pricegrabber all have the same misuse. They don't. I follow the links to third-party sites on any given page of hits; maybe half come up with the offending use, half don't. Perhaps it's in meta fields? I haven't looked there. My company and another, unrelated entity both have registrations for the same trademark. Our customers' (and these shopping sites') offending misuse encroaches on the other entity's registration. I'm trying to assuage points of friction, lest we ( and our customers) find ourselves in court. But geez, it's like herding kittens with these websites!

NSFW I'm not sure what concerns me most: That someone has actually gone to the effort to make that thing; or That Dys actually found that particular link.
