Suspects in Taylor case won't face execution

Life sentence = 15 years to life on a first felony offense. The Parole board noting the kids remorse, youth and lack of a criminal record will grant early parole.

As they say, life begins at 30. The shooter will be 31. Not bad for a killer. Still young and at the peak of life at release. Taylor, on the other hand will not have that break.

The irony is this: if the charge was Rape instead of Murder, they would do a max sentence and then be sent direct from prison to a Civil Confinement facility on a Correctional Facility for the rest of their natural lives -- to protect the public.

Amazing!

As much as I believe the death penalty can work in principle I fully acknowledge it fails in practice.  We need to get it right or get rid of it.

In this case, justice (in the legal sense) prevails.  As abhorrent as any murder certainly is these guys were trying to rob the place not execute someone.  It all went horribly wrong (as these things are wont to do) and someone died.  Life in prison makes sense; death row does not; 15 years and out definitely does not.
