Auto-Refreshing "Unread Posts Since Last Visit"
« on: May 16, 2008, 09:46:21 PM » |
|
For the record, I view this site almost exclusively via "Unread Posts Since Last Visit".
Previously, I loaded the Unread page, then picked and chose my threads from there. If I wanted to update the Unread Posts results, I clicked the link at the top of the page or hit Refresh. As of this evening, every time I "return" to what formerly would have been the original Unread Posts page, it auto-refreshes itself.
This is a PITA. I'm working my way through the unread threads, starting from the oldest active one. I'm skipping some. Suddenly, the order has changed. I lose my place.
And stroh is a *humid grotto*.

That has never worked for me. I'm a 'homer'.

I view the forum the same way Clive does. To date, no trouble with it unless I navigate away from the site and then return.
I think we can all agree on stroh's relative humidity, however.

Hmmmm ... I just visited FGI, and it's doing the same thing there. Maybe this laptop needs a burp.
(FWIW, I found that Firefox did NOT auto-refresh FGI, whereas IE7 did. That was the main reason I adopted Firefox as my default browser. When there are 3-13 pages of unread topics, I don't need the order changing.)

fwiw, there's no meta-refresh tags on that page.

I feel your pain. But, seriously, I'll look at this on Monday. I'll be away Sat and Sun. ( WhereCamp)

Is the auto-refresh still happening?

Only on that laptop. Not on the desktop, not on the work machine.
