We do have the technology, why not use it? I saw 2 of the three games where there were mistakes in the call. There is no reason for this to occur. Every other sport uses it in some fashion.

If you slowed baseball down any further would it go backwards? Maybe even spin the world the other way like Superman?

(note: I did not RTFA)
I think I remember seeing somewhere that despite the occasional string of mistakes that make it look like errors are glaring, when live calls are compared to radar/instant replay scrutiny, some horrific percentage of the time the umpires are actually correct. I could be wrong.
I agree with Uisce, 9 innings already takes a huge chunk of a lifetime to get through. And the thing I gravitate towards whenever officiating is called into question is that it tends to be universally bad, meaning for every questionable call that goes against a team there will be one that favors them. I think Newton first discussed it.

I remember reading the same thing. The data collected didn't support the need for it. I agree with Uisce too. He's a smart cookie.

It might help if you read the article. It does not advocate the use of replay on general umpire calls, balls, strikes and such. Merely for "boundary" questions. Was a ball a home run or not, fair or foul, fan interference. It wouldn't add more than a few minutes to the game where such a call was necessary. The majority of the games would never see a need for replay. I remember reading the same thing. The data collected didn't support the need for it. I agree with Uisce too. He's a smart cookie.
