Renay Appleby II

Almost.

We're leaving the parking lot of a downtown restaurant after lunch today.  It's very tight with cars parked along the alley on the way in and spots facing each other across a narrow lot at the back.  Two women are parked tight to the building and trying to back out and turn to the driver's side.  Never mind the play was to turn to the passenger's side and turn around further back in the lot with a bit more space.

So, this is going to be about a 10x back and fro.  About 3x into it the passenger gets out to direct.  She immediately places herself directly between her friend's car and the car parked behind them.  The driver, in fits and starts, chunks her way backward and stops with no room to spare.  The woman's pants if not her chubby legs are touching the bumpers of both cars.  At this point we don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Our wannabe traffic cop heads back to her seat once the driver pulls forward.  Another couple of gos and she gets back out to try again.  Straight back into the breech.  We couldn't believe it.  This time the car comes back enough to smash her friend between the bumpers enough to rock the parked car significantly.  She wasn't crippled for life or anything but it was a near thing.  Another 3-4" and she'd have two broken legs.  Another 6" and we'd still be there answering the coroner's questions.

The first time was just plain retarded.  The second time... there are no words.

To top it all off, once they were finally heading out the driver came within an inch of scraping the side of her car off on a steel post on the way past the corner of the building.
