I won't waste either of our collective time(s) with more of a list, but I guess....yeah. In my mind internet access should be the same.
Uh-oh
But back to our story.....
I understand why people would be upset over this thing, it would not be my choice as a consumer either. But arguing that Internet service *should* be the same is nothing but a self-interested, one-sided position (ya, I know - thats a 'well duh' point
). There is no rule, unwritten or otherwise, that says Internet service should be a flat rate service. Its simply a product pricing choice to be made by the seller. Both options are completely valid - do I offer a buffet, or a menu?
We buy almost everything by the size, weight, or whatnot - by the gallon, ounce, pound, minute, number of, etc. But we're gunna cry bull*feces* corporate greed when someone wants to charge by the Gigabyte? What makes the byte so special?
Metered goods and services out-weigh flat rate ones by such a wide margin that flat rate services may be in the single digit portion of the pie chart. So, you're right - we need not make more examples.
And I'm not sure I followed my argument as being two sided, even though that would not be new. I never argued that Internet service *should* be metered - just that its a valid business choice and need not have a 'bull*feces*' attack placed upon it.
