Are you going to an office Holiday/Christmas party this year?

Do you guys attend office Christmas/Holiday parties if you have them?

I used to really enjoy them when I worked for startups and smaller companies.  But now that I work for the gov't, we have have a Holiday luncheon which we have to pay to attend, so I refuse to go.  Bah humbug. Angry

We have a "holiday luncheon" which I usually skip, but then my boss has a cocktail party at his place for just the people in my department that I generally attend. I may skip it this year because he lives in Uisce Beatha country (about 20 mins from my place) and my DD is working a graveyard shift at the hospital that night.

I generally go.  The previous company I worked used to have a Christmas Ball which was pretty good. The company I'm at now does a BBQ and Spit Roast as the main Christmas Function, however each department will also have their own seperate Christmas Lunch.   I only go for the free food and drink, as do most guys.  Seems it's the women that get all excited about these things especially with the Kris Kringle. New to the job... doesn't look like I have the choice!

Been to my wife's workplace's Xmas party! I can't help but keep looking at my girl! Because all the other women are fugly yet still dress like a hooker and the guys there are sucks! (Ok, 1 bloke is very great, pretty much spend 90% of time talking to him exclusively)

It was a very very long 2 hours, and I can't wait when I left the place.

Our Christmas party is usually pretty good.  Free catered lunch, in a large conference room on-site, no dressing up, no dates, nobody's screaming kids running around, only ~60 people.   And, we do a very silly white elephant gift exchange, which is entertaining, even if the gifts are generally nothing special.

So, basically, it's a couple of hours off work, with food and prizes.
