My hatred of the US Open was softened tremendously by the setup this year. I guess it's all due to the new guy in charge but man what a difference. While I still abhor brutally penal rough I think they did a nice job with tee positions (under 7300 yards today) and the greens were perfect given they couldn't make them bent grass.
They met their ridiculous goal of protecting par without completely *goshdarn* up the tournament. That's some serious voodoo and they should be quite proud.
Even Johnny Miller made some sense this weekend.
