What do you typically order in a bar?

Do you have a regular drink that you typically order in a bar? I just realized that I'm in a rut and have been following the same bar routine since college (33 now). I usually either order a pint of whatever beer looks interesting on tap or a well Gin and Tonic [cheap bastage ], and I'm hoping for ideas on how to mix things up. What do you guys do (if you drink alcohol, that is)?

Due to Utah's ridiculous liquor laws, cocktails are generally too expensive and not potent enough for me to bother to order them in bars, so I typically go with the "whatever on draft sounds interesting" route. I prefer pitchers if possible. Back when I was younger and didn't mind spending too much money on weak cocktails I had a couple of favorites. My standard drink back then was 7 & Seven or Captain & Coke (both are far too sweet for my tastes these days, but occasionally I'll do a Bacardi and Diet). Shooters of choice were Kamikazis and Mind Erasers. We had a bartender friend at the bar we frequented who would skirt the liquor laws on the Mind Erasers so they ended up being about 6 oz. of liquor apiece. Oh the humanity! Now I tend to prefer to drink at home. My regular libation is burboun and water, but occasionally I mix in a Margarita or a vodka (preferrably Ketel One) and tonic.

Interesting. Do you have a particular bourbon you prefer at home or do you rotate around?

I'm about as plain as it gets. Tall(usually 23oz. but more at some places)Draft Beer. Almost always Michelob Golden Draft Light. But I like any kind of beer. Every once and a while I will have a few margaritas(rocks), but for the most part I stopped drinking Liquor years ago. 7&7 is good. Gin & grapefruit juice. I'm allergic to Captain.

I do like it, but don't see it much anymore. They used to brew it here. I barely remember a tour to the brewery once. (glad I wasn't drivin')

If money were no object I would drink Knob Creek or Russell's Reserve almost exclusively. Since money is an object, I very often buy whatever midgrade bourbon is on sale. I've been drinking Old Forester lately, but apparently the Utah State Liquor stores will no longer be carrying it. I'm also a fan of Jim Beam Black Label and Makers Mark (really a sour mash whisky rather than a true bourbon, I believe). Some of the better, lesser expensive brands: Old Grand Dad (grandad?), Ezra Brooks, and Evan Williams.

Frangelico or Amaretto on the Rocks, some times Long Island, I'll ask for a 'rita or a cosmo if I know that the place makes it decently.

Sprite or Cranberry Juice. I haven't had a drink since '92.

Hey Sal, do you drink your Frangelico over ice with a squeeze of lime juice?

What do you guys do (if you drink alcohol, that is)? Just to mix things up, you may want to try a margarita...not the phony, girly frozen strawberry kind, but a real one: Tequila, Cointreau, and Lime Juice over ice. Man, that's good. I'm also a fan of Whisky/Bourban and Coke.

No lime juice for the sanctity that is Frangelico! Frangelico or Amaretto on the Rocks, some times Long Island, I'll ask for a 'rita or a cosmo if I know that the place makes it decently.
