Much as you might like caricature them, conservatives who prize "family values" and character don't see themselves as perfect. People are human -- yes, gentle reader, even Republicans -- and make mistakes. The people you don't let off the hook for those mistakes are only those wearing the jersey of the opposing team.

its not the mistakes, i have no problem with that. i even made one once when i thought i was wrong--- it's the lies and hypocrisies. and i'll be sure to point out the same hypocrisy when the dem pres. candidate dumps his wife for a trophy blonde sugar mama while campaigning on family values, yada yada (or any other ridiculous hypocrisy)-- you got my word on it.

No argument with what you just said. However, this soft touch for Gore while the use of mcsleaze for McCain..... rings of a lack of consistency that I think Clive was pointing out. Of course, there's no rule that any of us be consistent - or even can be for that matter.

Which one of his homes would that be? I have a feeling if it read R-Gore instead of D-Gore under his name you wouldn't be so kind. Don't get me wrong, I do have an appreciation for his cause but he needed to be a bit more Ed Begley Jr.-like if he wanted to be taken more seriously.

It'd be nice if that article were comparing mansions to mansions. He may well still turn out to be an energy pig, but I'm not going to expect a multi-millionaire former VP and former (and future, you never know) presidential hopeful to live in an average home. I'll say the same about Clinton, Bush I, Carter, and Reagan (when he was alive). And I'll say the same about Bush II when he's out of office and has leaders in public health and industry frequenting his Crawford mansion, forming the tip of the spear in his personal battle against snackfood-related choking hazards.

hobbit- if you can prove more than 50% of that energy is for 'home' use i'll gladly up my 'hate' against him. that's all i'm asking for ... hard #'s. if he's using 50% of of that energy to help spread the message to get 100M+ people to drop their energy/c02, then it's a win in the end if even 10% listen and practice the 'message'........... .......... that said, as was my point to begin with, he could certainly cut back on personal use to not appear so much the hypocrite and make his message appear stronger to the public anyways, in this case, i don't have them (yet?) so it's a bit hard to be quite as harsh as someone we do have the hard #'s on. 1 divorce for a trophy sugar mama. (why does the article not mention his net CO2 emissions, anyways... which is what would really make him a hypocrite or not)

1 divorce for a trophy sugar mama. Perhaps you can aid us by detailing the minimum age difference between the first wife and the second, as well as the minimum period of time that must elapse between divorce decree and wedding service, in order for the second wife to qualify as trophy status. I know a few guys who went through divorces. Some of them remarried, two stayed single thereafter. Some of the remarried did so pretty quickly, at least by your standards. In most cases, the second wife was younger than the first. In no case would I be willing to state that these guys happily dumped Wife #1 for the better prize of Wife #2. And none of these guys was tortured for five and a half years in a POW jungle camp. But relevant to this particular divorce: John McCain would later say, "My marriage's collapse was attributable to my own selfishness and immaturity more than it was to Vietnam, and I cannot escape blame by pointing a finger at the war. The blame was entirely mine."[23] Carol McCain would later say: "The breakup of our marriage was not caused by my accident or Vietnam or any of those things. I don't know that it might not have happened if John had never been gone. I attribute it more to John turning 40 and wanting to be 25 again than I do to anything else."[23] John McCain's biographer, Robert Timberg believes that "Vietnam did play a part, perhaps not the major part, but more than a walk-on."[28] According to Carol, her husband's five-year captivity in Vietnam had left him wanting to "make up for lost time,"[1] and John put it this way: "I had changed, she had changed....People who have been apart that much change."[28] Ross Perot would later say, "After [John McCain] came home, Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona and the rest is history."[18] Carol’s three children were initially upset with John McCain about the divorce, but later reconciled.[16]
John McCain gave Carol a settlement that included alimony, child support, houses in Virginia and Florida, and lifelong financial support for her ongoing medical treatments resulting from the 1969 automobile accident.[1] Wiki
