She's a bit sketchy with street riding, as she's never done any of it, and even at 500cc it's larger than anything she's ever ridden before, so she's taking baby steps. Her mechanics look good and and she handles the bike well, until she starts thinking too hard about it and then she can get a bit psyched out. I took her out to a driving range yesterday and gave her some pointers and advice, which she says helped her a lot. (I meant to take a camera to get some pictures of her riding, but I forgot.) And after we were done, I had her ride the semi-curvy street up to our house that freaked her out the first time she rode it, just to show her that she could do it and do it well. Big grin and thumbs up at the end.
For the most part she's enjoying it, with a couple of mental hurdles yet to clear, and says she feels much better after riding it over the weekend. She is also scheduled to take the MSF course next week, which I believe will do wonders for her confidence. I expect her to be the star of the class.
I've actually put more mileage on the bike than she has, but I expect that to change any time now. It's a great little bike with a lot more power than I expected. Out of curiosity, I took it on the freeway yesterday with both of us on it, and got it up to
freeway speeds
with no trouble at all, and it's quite stable at high speeds, though extremely cramped with two adult sized humans on it. I certainly wouldn't want to ride 2-up on it for any real amount of time.
